While it’s good to always run water when operating the garburator, letting the water flush through is good every now and then, as the garburator will have the chance to fill with water instead of rush straight through.
• Remember to avoid sending oil or grease of any kind down your garburator. Also, refrain from normal “no no” items like celery and coffee grounds – even though you may love that coffee smell!
• Leave the coffee for the coffee pot – there are several combinations of natural household items that will help deodorize your disposal and help you home smell great again. Try these combinations:
  • Kosher salt and ice cubes
  • Baking soda and warm water
  • Citrus peels (try oranges and lemons!) and the fruit itself
  • Bleach (just a rinse – dilute with water!)
